We Are So Grateful For Your Support
Our primary mission is to provide loving care for the many animals who come through our door while working hard to find them forever homes. We couldn’t do this work without the help and support of our wonderful volunteers and patrons. Thanks to all of you here’s what we accomplished in 2019:
Adoptions
We placed 553 cats, kittens, puppies and dogs (year-to-date) into loving forever homes. This includes our adoption programs at PetSmart stores in Monroe and Middletown. Thanks so much to these stores for allowing us to participate.
Southern Rescues
This year 147 puppies/dogs were rescued from high-kill shelters and placed with loving families.
Dog Training Program
Teaching dogs good manners greatly increases their chance of finding new homes. Thanks to the Adoptability and Socialization classes several longtime residents found new families to love them.
Veterinary Care
We covered the cost of 500 spays and neuters along with medical care for hundreds of sneezes, tummy aches and countless boo boos. In addition, the hundreds of animals in our care were protected with inoculations.
Enrichment
Shelter life is stressful for dogs and cats. We work hard to provide them with an enriching environment. Our wonderful volunteers work on socialization with shy cats and dogs helping them to relax and improving their chances of adoption. The Sundays in the Park Dog Walking Program gives our dogs a much-needed break from the shelter. Over the Summer Sundae’s on Monday at Duffy’s in Montgomery, also provided a much needed break from the shelter. Dogs and volunteers were treated to some ice cream.
Food
This year we provided more than 1,000 pounds of food for the dogs and cats in our care. The majority of which was donated by the public. Thank you for your support!
SPECIAL THANKS TO OUR DEDICATED STAFF & VOLUNTEERS
While living at our shelter the cats and dogs are showered with love by our wonderful staff and volunteers. And while it’s always bittersweet to say goodbye, everyone at the shelter is overjoyed to see the animals they have cared for leaving with their new families.
