About Us
For more than 50 years, the Humane Society of Walden has provided compassionate care and safe shelter for animals in need. With the help of our staff, volunteers, donors, and community partners, we give cats and dogs the time and care they need while they wait for loving homes.
Our Story
The Humane Society of Walden is a no-kill, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to rescuing, caring for, and rehoming stray and abandoned cats and dogs.
We serve as an important community resource for Walden and the surrounding area, including the towns of Montgomery, Crawford, Shawangunk, and Mamakating.
Our animals come in every age, size, and personality. If you are thinking about adding a pet to your family, we invite you to visit and discover the companion who may be waiting for you.

The Humane Society of Walden believes that all animals have a natural right to humane treatment including proper care, respect, and safe shelter. Our primary mission is to provide care while finding permanent, loving homes for the many animals that come to our door.

The Board of Directors meets at the shelter at 6:00 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month. Community members are welcome to attend and learn more about the Humane Society of Walden’s work.
