Help Repair Our Crematory, News from Humane Society of Walden, NY 845-778-5115

Help Repair Our Crematory   |   Wednesday, August 13

Your donation will be DOUBLED! An anonymous donor will match every donation, dollar for dollar, up to $2500, to help with very necessary crematorium repairs. Since 1984 we have offered low cost cremations for those who's pets have passed on. Our service provides an economical way for people to obtain the ashes of their much loved pet.

Our crematorium has been out of service for a year and we currently have repairs underway. Our goal is to raise $2500 through your donations which will turn into $5000 through the matching funds.

Every donation is doubled. Please help as much as you can and don't forget to share with friends!

Donations can be made at the shelter: 2489 Albany Post Road, Walden, NY 12586; online using the form in left column; or by mail to: PO Box 135, Walden, NY 12586.

Please call the shelter at 845-778-5115 for information on pet cremation

Justice Urgently Needs Our Help!   |   Friday, June 20

This poor little pup was brought in Friday June 20th, by a man who claimed he found him tied to a fence about a week ago in the Walden area. We would love to find his owners. He was immediately taken to a vet for treatment.

As you can see he's extremely swollen, skin was cracked and red. He was very lethargic. This poor baby was very uncomfortable not to mention very sick. Our hearts goes out to him... If you know anything about him please contact us at 845-778-5115.

If you can make a special donation to our Medical Emergency Fund we would be so grateful and it will allow us to continue to help animals like Justice who need our care. Thank you!

TARA Receives S/N Grant for Newburgh Cats   |   Monday, June 17

Residents of the Town and City of Newburgh, N.Y. Spay and Neuter Services for only $10

The Animal Rights Alliance, Inc. (T.A.R.A.) is happy to announce a new low-cost program for the spaying and neuter of cats on their mobile clinic. This new program will only be for residents of owned cats in the Town of Newburgh and the City of Newburgh. The cost - only $10 per cat! This opportunity was made possible by a generous grant from PetSmart Charities(R) and is earmarked, exclusively, for residents of Newburgh, New York.

This service includes a preliminary exam, spay or neuter, a rabies shot, ear cleaning, nail trimming, and a penicillin shot.

Please note that there is a limit of five cats per resident. For owners who want to spay/neuter more than five cats, a home check will be required in order to exceed the limit, at this reduced price. We strongly suggest that residents take full advantage of this program, while it lasts, and we encourage the spaying and neutering of all cats in their care.

Newburgh residents may come to any of the T.A.R.A. onsite locations held in Newburgh, Monroe, Middletown and Monticello, but must first make an appointment and provide proof of residency at check-in. Additional locations will be added in the town and city, for its residents, and will be announced in the near future.

For any questions, or to schedule an appointment, please call toll-free (855)754-7100. The time to spay and neuter is now, the place is Newburgh, and the price is right!

Note: To qualify for this reduced-cost program, Newburgh residents must present one form of accepted proof of residency:

l. An unexpired driver's license or permit, with a residential, physical street address in Newburgh, N. Y.*
2. A current lease or rental agreement, for a residential, physical, street address in Newburgh, N.Y.*
3. A recent utility bill or tax statement for a residential, physical, street address in Newburgh, N. Y.*

*The name stated on the listed forms must match the name signed on the T.A.R.A. surgical release form, which is completed at check-in time, the morning of surgery.

11 Rescued Dachshunds Have Been Adopted, News from Humane Society of Walden, NY 845-778-5115

Georgie is one of 11 rescued Mini Dachshunds needing extensive dental work done before adoption.

11 Rescued Dachshunds Have Been Adopted   |   Friday, February 22

In mid February we rescued 11 Doxies from a breeder in Maryland who was being evicted. There were 5 girls and 6 boys who's ages range from 4 to 14 years. As breeding animals, none of them had been altered and many had not received vet care for way too long a time.

Not only did they ALL need dental work, they all needed to be spayed or neutered, and several had medical conditions which needed treatment before they could be adopted out to new families. Dr. Roeder generously did ALL of the above work for just $2,000 but that was a big strain on the shelter financially and money spent on these dogs, took away from already limited resources that we have to spend on other animals in our care.

We would be very grateful for any donation you can give to help cover medical expenses for the Doxies. They have all been adopted out now, but the vet bills remain :) Thank you so much for your interest in these wonderful little dogs.
